Bending and induction heating of air hardening tubular material (Completed)

3D profile bending (using the Torque Superposed Spatial (TSS) bending process) was combined with an inline induction heating process that directly offers the production of bent profiles with arbitrary cross-sections, lengths, and varying material characteristics. In investigations the application of this technology on air hardening steels with symmetrical and unsymmetrical cross-sections is shown. Thorough research is done on material characteristics of these steels, especially on how the characteristics are affected by the induction heating process.
